As you're no doubt aware, there has been a global IT…
Privacy Act 2020 is now in effect
The Privacy Act 2020 came into force on 1 December 2020, replacing the Privacy Act 1993. The Privacy Act has 13 privacy principles that govern how businesses and organisations should collect, handle and use personal information.
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) has more information here.
One of the notable requirements that businesses may not be aware of, is that every business, regardless of size, needs to have a privacy officer. This doesn’t have to be a full time role, but they should understand the business’ obligations under law.
Free eLearning is now available online and there is an annual Privacy Week to raise awareness. Webinars are recorded and you can see past videos from previous years on their YouTube channel.
